I came across a very weird and annoying problem recently, related to the way Googlebot is indexing my main section. Googlebot seems to use my website root as the landing page, which is of course no problem if the main section doesn’t change. Like for example a welcome page.
However because the main section on Existence-Unknown does change when I post a new article. Googlebot is still sending people, who use search terms related to the previous article, to the root. Even when there is perfectly good article link. It seems Googlebot is seeing the article link as the duplicate content instead of the website root.
The thing I changed in my content management system, Marbl-CMS is the following:
When I have a main section, which contains more articles then one. I force the visitors and Googlebot (and colleagues) to use the unique article link as the landing page. This way when I post a new article, all the incoming visitors who are using certain search terms will land on the correct page.
So I urge you if you have a similar problem, make sure that your main section will forward users to the article link instead of having them land in the root of your website!
