The first version of the mod I'm about to show you, has been my favourite game for a long time. The mod I'm talking about is called Forgotten Hope and is a Battlefield 1942 modification. Now don't start screaming at your screen, yelling that it is old. It.s a well know fact that old games can still be better then newer games.
Anyway if you've read the faq you should already know about this mod. I simply love WW2 games, yet most of them are not as good as this old mod. The FH development team has created a mod, which Battlefield 1942 should've been (shame on you EA and DICE). They've added a massive amount of new vehicles, planes, ships and even new armies with radio commands in their language.
It's also a hefty 2GB download. Keep in mind that this is free modification, which makes it even more amazing. Forgotten Hope strives to be historically accurate, meaning that you won't find 1945 tanks in a 1941 map. Also the recoil and aiming system have been modified to get closer to realism. And of course the armor values on all the vehicles have been fixed.
For example: An American Sherman M4A1 will not penetrate a German PzKw VI Tiger I trough its front armor, unlike Bf1942 where all tanks are quite equal.
At the moment the FH mod community is not the biggest around anymore, well let's just say it's holding on by a cliffhanger. This cliffhanger is called Forgotten Hope 2. And let me tell you, the suspense is killing me.
The first release will take place in North Africa where the Brits face off against Rommel.s Afrika Korps. I have all the confidense in the world about them creating yet another mod of the year, based on their past results with FH1.
The reason I posted this is to get some extra coverage on my favourite mod and to try and get it out to the people who don't know about it. I guess the main reason you're here is to oogle the goodies, well thank god for youtube then...
Forgotten Hope 2 Teaser 1
There are lots more youtubes featuring FH2, also don't forget FH1. The Forgotten Hope 1 movies consist of parodies or weird gameplay most of the time.
For a funny parody created by two friends of mine have a look at Luftwulf below (apparently I'm the greasemonkey Kouji San)
Luftwulf FH1 parody:
Luftwulf is an Airwolf parody, ingame this chopper (Kolibri, Flettner Fl 282) is not that powerful. But its fun to watch it blow up everything like this, is it not?
The latest news entry on the Forgotten Hope website was entitled:
The Turning Point
Here's a little quote teaser from this news entry
The Second Battle of Alamein was a significant turning point, and was the beginning of the end for the Afrika Korps in North Africa. Does this translate into "the mod is closer to release"? I certainly hope so. Here as a last incentive to get you on your way on checking out Forgotten Hope, the forum link discussing this very news post click
Now go forth and enjoy what is FH and will become FH2!

Here's a little quote teaser from this news entry
In July 1942, Erwin Rommel and the Italo-German Panzer Armee Afrika were only 70 miles from Alexandria. El Alamein was a last stand for the Allies in North Africa. To the north of this apparently unremarkable town was the Mediterranean Sea and to the south was the Qattara Depression. El Alamein was a bottleneck that ensured that Rommel could not use his favoured form of attack - sweeping into the enemy from the rear in a pincer movement. A violent series of assaults between July & early September were bravely repulsed. Rommel's nose had been bloodied and now Monty's 8th Army would take up the offensive. The gruelling fight lasted from October 23rd to November 3rd 1942.
