With the constant struggle for more and more power, I always feared it would turn into another Dragonball Z power struggle. And now they’ve actually taken the final step to realize this...
After a much needed ass-whooping, Ichigo actually is struck down again by Ulquiorra. He is dead, or is he? DUN DUN DUUUN...! As if they would finish of the main character, right?
Anyways, after some annoying whining by Orihime, (Ichigo-kun times a bunch), he hears her cries for help from beyond the death threshold and somehow able to return to his body, I guess to shut up Orihime. The similarities to a Saya-jin returning more powerful from a severe injury, makes this quite original... Oh, wait...
Sure his heart was turned into a hole, similar to a Hollow, but come on... With this latest transformation, they actually turned this franchise into another power struggle madness like Dragonball Z!

Fusion HA!
Not to mention, with Ulquiorra’s transformation being very strong already (too strong). They now go and introduce a new Ichigo power? What about the other characters, will they also get a new power, to be able to keep up with this madness?
I always loved Kenpachi being the mighty unstoppable powerhouse with Yachiru as his number one supporter. But he almost died against Grimmjow, who was a lower ranking Arrancar... This is simply unacceptable, Kenpachi is no longer the biggest powerhouse in town. Let me guess, Bankai Kenpachi is just around the corner? Like he will ever be able or willing to do that. The guy does not think like that. In his mind a sword is nothing more then a tool for fighting. Not an ol' buddy/ol' pal with a name, just to get Bankai-rific powers. It simply doesn't fit his profile...
However, I always loved the Bankai idea and could live with Ichigo’s Hollow transformation, but this next long haired Super Saya-jin 3 transformation is just moronic and I’m not just talking about Ichigo. They should really stop making them faster and stronger Dragonball Z style and should give them more sword skills instead.
In short, what the hell are the writers doing to Dragonball *ahem* I mean Bleach!

I do agree up to a point to what you said, but I still think it is sloppy story writing to make Ichigo go super Hollow just to be able to defeat Ulquiorra. Even if he probably won't or can't use that power again, since what you said about it being a true Hollow seems logical...
It still annoys me, because of the fact they somehow wrote themselves into a proverbial corner and had to resort to this perhaps one time transformation to give him an edge.
That was my point about the danger of the continuing introduction of strong/faster opponents. It can bite them in their behind, forcing them to drag things like this into the story :D

Oh right, this place has news!
From what I understood Ichigo did die and then his hollowification (I hope that's a word) took over, Ichigo himself had no control over the thing and it seemed to be a true Hollow instead of the half-human, half-shinigami, half-hollow Ichigo usually is (Wait... 3 halves... Umm, just go with it). Though I have nothing to say about the latest turn of events after the hollow was gone (don't like to spoil anything for anyone ;) )
Personally don't think Ichigo will actually get that form as a power. One inconsistency I've noted is that suddenly he just was able to keep his Hollow-transformation on longer...
And at least it's not JUST "I've got longer hair and more lightning around me, that means I'm stronger"... The show might be starting to follow the recognisable pattern though... Personally don't see anything that much wrong with it... =3
