Episode 2 was quite a big project. I might say it was the biggest machinima project I ever created. First of all the script was 5 pages long, compared too 1.2 pages for episode 1. Yes that’s a lot of dialogue and acting.
To add to this, all the video effects took quite some time. The main reason for this was that I wanted the TF2 characters to be fully integrated into the Left 4 Dead environment. Not to mention all the masking that had to be done to make them appear behind stuff when their actual clip was in front of the Left 4 Dead scene.
All in all it was quite a good learning experience for me to see how I could work with like a bazillion clips in a single project in the most efficient way. And I don’t even have a Macintosh, so you can imagine it was not as smooth a process as it should’ve been. Not even with my not to shabby rig.
Well, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I and Ocha, the scout voice actor, enjoyed making it. Be sure to tune in for episode 3 when it’s finished!
Some OMG! stuff:
I also encountered a very scary problem just as I was about to tweak a few more things. Once I opened up the project in Premiere and was shocked to see all media shown as offline in the program monitor. But the weird thing was that it was only offline in the program monitor. I could open the files from the timeline and the bin. So it seems premiere could access them, but could not show them in the program monitor. I’ve written this dedicated article about this issue and the solution that worked for me, Premiere offline media in program monitor
